November 10, 2010

Email to MC 11/10/10...

I'll be around during Thanksgiving, as per usual I will be with my dad on Thursday and my mom in NJ on Friday...and then around for the weekend.

My most recent bike "adventure" (separate from my day-to-day commuting) was super - this past Saturday I woke up early to take the path to meet up with biking partners at Newark Penn Station - a destination preferred by New Jersey's rough-looking folk and those in need of nappy-time (not such a nice place). After jumping our bikes over a surprising gaping hole in the middle of the road, my seat pack broke off. While fixing it on the sidewalk of a particularly sketchy stretch, we were fortunate to encounter one of the common Newark locals! By jove, a snaggle-toothed jabbering jabber-wocky (aka. insane homeless man), came up to us gesticulating wildly with his still smoking cigarette butt, sputtering a whole lotta nonsense. Ah! The authentic experience!!!  After that colorful stretch, I managed only one flat tire, rode through some really pretty stretches, climbed a mountain, enjoyed the view from Eagle Rock (photo with manhattan skyline in the background attached) and then arrived home, almost frozen. Then I got taken out to dinner at fancy schmancy restaurant Sho Shaun Hergatt (dating multiples has it's benefits - this was complements of my man D). It was delish....

Sunday I woke up early again to go meet MW and her parents to drive to Pennsylvania to visit the Barnes Foundation. Have you ever heard of it? (http://www.barnesfoundation.org) It's one of the last weekends it is open....before the entire collection is stolen by - I mean moved to the Philadelphia Museum. There is this great film about the whole scandal....I mean "transition" about the move called "The Art of the Steal." http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/21/movies/21barnes.html. It was awesome - but a bit too much driving and not enough time spent at the actual place. Sunday night I contracted "bite marks." That was fun. Thanks J. He's got me on his wand. Seriously. And of course, when it's really good I can't help but start to really really like the guy. We've been dating for over two months...but not really sure if it's going anywhere. I think about it a lot - it takes up too much space in my head, actually. I just don't know - I just don't know. I wish I did. I've also started seeing this Philippino triathalete. He's cute and funny and interesting...but I'm not sure if there's any real chemistry there. I'm seeing him this coming Friday again. We'll see. Tomorrow I'm suppose to meet this new guy S, who I think will be super hot. But he might flake. Again, we'll see. Dating is an exercise in juggling and patience. Extreme patience. Patience that makes me want to scream or bike 100 miles until I'm exhausted. See? I can be patient ;)

So - I've decided to do some more blogging....but really I'm just going to be posting my emails to people - edited of course.
